BIOGRAPHY JEANNE LARROUTUROU (*1991)
French percussionist Jeanne Larrouturou has been based in Switzerland since 2011. She works as a performer, composer, and curator at the intersection of contemporary music, performance, and interdisciplinary artistic practices. After completing a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Music Education at the Haute École de Musique de Genève, she continued her studies at the Hochschule für Musik Basel, where she earned a specialized Master’s degree in Contemporary Chamber Music.
Since 2011, she has been a member of Ensemble Batida, a Geneva-based collective renowned for its original concert formats and transdisciplinary compositions, presented throughout Switzerland and internationally. She is also the co-founder of Stop, Drop, and Roll (musical theatre, Basel) and Ensemble Caravelle (music theatre and interdisciplinary performances, Geneva), and joined Concept Store Quartet, a Basel-based ensemble dedicated to contemporary creation, in 2022. In 2025, she co-founded the Basel-based duo Les Mécaniques with saxophonist Charley Rose. Exploring the boundaries between jazz and experimental music, the duo creates a repertoire that combines collaborative composition with improvisation.
In 2023, she created Objets trouvés #1, her first solo performance combining object theatre and sound art, marking the beginning of an ongoing compositional practice that continues through both collective and individual projects. Among her recent works, she co-composed, together with Lukas Roth and Andrea Kirchhofer, the music for the theatre production Nichts als ein Versuch, and performs on stage as a musician-performer, taking an active role in the dramaturgy of the production. The piece toured numerous theatres across the Zurich region during the 2025–2026 season.
Alongside her performing career, she is actively involved in developing and curating artistic projects. Since 2019, she has co-directed the experimental sound series Fracanaüm in Lausanne together with Kevin Juillerat, and joined the programming committee of the Rümlingen Festival in 2024.
As a percussionist, Jeanne Larrouturou is regularly invited to collaborate with ensembles and artists throughout Switzerland and Europe. She has performed works by and participated in creations with Georges Aperghis, Martin Matalon, Ondřej Adámek, Alexandre Babel, Jean-Pierre Drouet, Andreas Eduardo Frank, Arturo Corrales, Anda Kryeziu, Kevin Juillerat, Jacques Demierre, Sébastien Roux, Nik Bärtsch, Asia Ahmetjanova, Fritz Hauser, Julian Sartorius, among others.
A committed educator, she designs and leads workshops on musical theatre, sound objects, improvisation, sampling, and graphic scores for children, teenagers, and adults. She was invited by the Basel-based organization Zuhören Schweiz to develop the Minute sonore / Hörminute project in French-speaking Switzerland.
Her artistic practice explores the boundaries between disciplines, aesthetics, and modes of audience engagement. She is particularly interested in collaborative creative processes and in artistic forms that emerge through encounters between people, practices, and contexts.
